Baked Earth Bakery are an award winning UK based manufacturer of THE finest flatbreads. What started life as a naan bread producer, is now a modern bakery, creating a whole range of authentic and globally inspired breads. Still family owned and run, we have a fantastic team made up of NPD, technical, sales, engineers, production and support staff all working to create the very best ambient, chilled and frozen products.
We sell our breads to customers around the world and are always on the lookout for new market and customer opportunities.

Our Story

We’ve been baking brilliant breads since the early 1970s when we created our first naans using our top secret recipe. The Butt family opened Nottingham’s very first curry house and customers just couldn’t get enough of our flatbreads so when we realised we were on to something, we opened a dedicated bakery and we’ve never looked back!
Since then our talented team of bakers, technical masterminds and skilled production staff have taken inspiration from around the world to bring a delicious range of breads to the UK. From Asian naans to Greek pittas, Turkish flatbreads to American sub rolls, Lebanese flatbreads to Asian rotis and a whole lot more, our international adventures continue…
Today, our modern bakery produces millions of baked products a year. We still take pride in the individual skills it takes to make our products. And we still believe we make the best naan breads in the UK!

1970's

We opened the first curry house in Nottingham in the 1970s.
There are now over 150 restaurants in the area.

Meet the Family

Dan Butt
Managing Director
Born and raised in Nottingham, Dan’s first job was helping out in the family restaurant, learning how to make the perfect naan! He went on to complete a BA in Economics and Finance and held positions at Rolls Royce, JCB and Jaguar Land Rover, but his heart was always at Baked Earth Bakery. He now proudly leads the business as Managing Director. Dan is the father of 3 beautiful girls and spends his time being a family man or getting involved in any sport that involves hitting a ball!
Taz Butt
Operations Director
Taz is a city dweller who loves to travel and find new adventures along the way. After graduating in 2003 with MSc in Management, he has worked in food manufacturing for over 20 years. Starting out on the shop floor, Taz was proudly promoted to Operations Director in 2018. He spends his free time coaching youth football and improving Padel Tennis in the local area.
Mr Butt
Chairman
Born in Pakistan, Mr Butt moved to the UK as a young child and has always considered Nottingham to be his home. His life has been devoted to the food industry, starting young when he helped his father in the family restaurant. He continued learning the trade until Baked Earth Bakery opened in 1990. A devoted family man, Mr Butt has 3 children and an amazing 8 grandchildren who he hopes will take the helm one day! In his spare time he is passionate about travelling, cooking and eating (naan breads of course!).

Product Development

Our manufacturing skills are backed by our passionate team who work tirelessly to develop high quality, innovative products that excite the market. We work across different sectors including hospitality and food service, bringing exciting new products to restaurant menus. We also develop products in conjunction with the grocery retailers to ensure their ranges meet the market and customer needs.

Our product development team are always on the hunt for new flavours, textures and processes that we can use in our production facility. Our determination for excellence ensures that only the best products make it through our rigorous processes.

How long has Baked Earth been making naan breads?
We started producing naan breads in the 1970’s and are still in our hometown of Nottingham.
We are a family owned and run family business. Previously known as Butt Foods Ltd, we have modernised the business and the bakery to bring new products and innovation to the market.
Yes – we are a vegan site and all of our products are vegan.
Every single product is made on our site in Nottingham.

We only use wheat in our production facility. We do not use milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, or soybeans.
